The Skiing World Cup is a major event for the Norwegian public and for Norsk Tipping. We were happy to be there as it happened and able to offer a broad range of betting objects on Oddsen.

To make sure that we had the capacity to call all of the new millionaires in the super draw on Easter Saturday, we placed a job advert that described the work as making the famous ‘call from Hamar’.

Advertising awards for ‘Vekking from Hamar’ campaign
The popular wake-up campaign from 2018 was rewarded with first place in the categories ‘Mobile phone’ and ‘Radio/Audio’, and third place in the ‘Promotion and Activation’ category, at the Gullblyanten advertising awards.
No longer possible to gamble away big prizes
Big prizes can lead to significantly higher spending on gaming and increase the risk of developing a gambling problem. Norsk Tipping has therefore eliminated the possibility of gambling away prizes of more than NOK 20,000. Instead, the winnings are paid straight into the customer’s bank account.

Important upgrade to login process for gaming terminals
We introduced so-called ‘two factor authentication’ for our gaming terminals to prevent the misuse of player cards. Since 1 May, all players have had to identify themselves using a one-time password sent to their mobile phone in addition to using their player card and PIN code. You can read more in the chapter on responsible gaming.
New Oddsen record for Champions League final
The big game between supporter favourites Tottenham and Liverpool in none other than the final of the Champions League contributed to a new record for Oddsen. Almost 70,000 players bet on one or more objects.

Åsne named "Norsk Tipping I" and "Norsk Tipping II"
A large proportion of the surplus funds from Norsk Tipping goes to emergency preparedness at sea. The Norwegian Sea Rescue Society wanted to remind the public of this and therefore chose to call its new rescue boats, Norsk Tipping I and Norsk Tipping II.
New responsibility tool producing positive effects
One of the most important means of preventing gambling problems is to provide players with an overview of their spending. July was the first month in which customers were provided with a weekly overview of their net spending in the last 7, 30 and 365 days. This was welcomed by customers.

District Court Judgment I
The government won the first round in a lawsuit against the prohibition on money transfers, which means that Norwegian banks and financial institutions are obliged to stop transfers to and from gaming companies without a permit to offer gaming to Norwegians. The lawsuit was brought by Entercash and the gaming organisation the European Gaming & Betting Association. The case was appealed.

New prize record
On Friday 20 September, a new Norwegian prize record was set when one lucky player came away with no less than NOK 443.9 million from Eurojackpot.

District Court Judgment II
The company Norsk Lotteri sued the government claiming that it was not administering the monopoly model in line with the requirements the EEA rules set for being able to restrict competition in the market. The district court ruled in favour of the government. The case was appealed.
Award for ‘Sjetil bestemmer’ campaign
The ‘Sjetil bestemmer’ campaign won the Sølvfisk award for October. The award was the company’s sixteenth Sølvfisk.

Two of the company’s expert designers produced a stylish new design for the Nabolaget game.
Studied transferring horse racing to Norsk Tipping
As part of the government’s work on new gaming legislation, the Ministry of Culture started work on assessing whether horse racing should be transferred from Norsk Rikstoto to Norsk Tipping. In April 2020, the government decided to continue the current system.

Important focus on female choreographers
Female dancers rule on stage but the performances are choreographed by men. We wanted to help change this when we started a collaboration with the Norwegian National Opera & Ballet aimed at strengthening the commitment to female choreographers. Read more in ‘Stories’.
Recertification jackpot
Norsk Tipping hit the jackpot when the company was recertified in accordance with European Lotteries’ European Responsible Gaming Standards. “This is a feather in Norsk Tipping’s cap and is a clear sign that the work we are doing in relation to responsibility is bearing fruit,” said a proud Åsne Havnelid.
